    From elementary to high school students, the Urban League of Greater Cleveland is molding the future direction of Cleveland youth and helping them become successful and prosperous young adults. We have established a solid track record of delivering quality education and youth development programs within Cuyahoga County for more than two decades. Throughout the Youth Services arena, ULGC youth staff members are known as “kid magnets” and youth servants. It is the understanding and belief that the youth of today are not just tomorrow’s leaders, but that they have leadership to offer today.

  • MY BROTHER’S KEEPER GREATER CLEVELAND CHAPTER

    In January 2021, My Brother’s Keeper-Greater Cleveland Chapter (MBK-GC) was launched to support boys and young men of color in our community, in partnership with My Brother’s Keeper Ohio 2021. The program presents an amazing opportunity for our young people that are destined to have a positive and life-changing experience. Joining the League as funding and planning partners are the Cleveland Cavaliers and The Cleveland Foundation. U. S. Senator Sherrod Brown’s office, in conjunction with MBK-OHIO, is collaborating to supplement this programming and provide enriching opportunities for students to gain exposure to various career opportunities as well as self-empowerment and advocacy tools. URBAN LEAGUE OFFERS MANY PROGRAMS FOR ALL AGE LEVELS

  • CAREER PATHWAYS

    Since 2018, the Urban League of Greater Cleveland has focused on building structured career pathway programming in multiple high schools utilizing the evidence-based Project Ready curriculum. Career Pathways is designed for students to participate in Work Based Learning experiences along with paid summer internship opportunities. The program goals include helping students explore career options, understand the nature of the work world and relate work and careers to key academics.   • PROJECT READY

    The Urban League’s flag ship education program is Project Ready, a high school retention and college access program designed to make Cleveland area students more competitive in the global economy. The evidence-based Project Ready curriculum was developed jointly by the National Urban League and City University of New York (CUNY) and is comprised of three major components: Academic Development, Social Development, and College & Career Culture Awareness. The success has been phenomenal; results included increased school attendance, an increased interest and commitment to learning, and improved social skills.

  • SOCIAL EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT

    The Urban League of Greater Cleveland takes a whole child approach to youth development that includes enhancing their social emotional skill set. Seeing the results of COVID-19 on the psyche of our youth, equity approaches to social emotional supports are critical. Trauma-informed methods of helping students stay engaged are used to ensure consistent program participation. We are dedicated to continuing the development of equitable practices.

  • HBCU TOURS

    For 30 years the Urban League of Greater Cleveland has been instrumental in developing relationships with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) across the nation. This dynamic program gives students the opportunity to visit college campuses, experience their rich culture and heritage, and talk to current students. Participants also visit education or historic sites, such as The National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington D.C. Anywhere from 45-90 young adults can attend each year. It is estimated that a minimum of 50% of students who attend the college tour go on to higher education.
